Proof of concept

Early stage technology businesses can seek investment from this £15m fund. Working in parallel with the region’s universities, Centres of Excellence, individual entrepreneurs, technology start-ups and SMEs to develop new businesses, investments will generally be between £50k and £150k. Finance will be available for innovative projects promising new commercial opportunities.

This fund will prepare projects and start-ups for further investment and assist with demonstrating commercial viability. The Fund will also have the ability to make follow-on investments into Proof of Concept businesses. Building on the sector focused Three Pillars Pilot Fund, (energy, process technologies and health sciences) the fund is now available to other technology sectors.

The North East Proof of Concept Fund is managed by NorthStar Equity Investors.
